I just came across the idea of Altered Books while I was on vacation. If one were to buy there first book on "How to Alter Books? Name and author would be great. I really like this craft and need something to do besides needlepoint all the time.

Welcome to altered books. So, what I would recommend is spending a rainy afternoon in Powell's books looking through their arts and crafts section... and find a book that speaks to you. There are so many techinques that you won't find one book that will do justice to all of them... I have found its better to find one with some project in it that inspire you... and learn those techniques...and then look for book two... and soon you will be just doing your own thing and experimenting with what works and what doesn't work for you!
Have HUGE fun !!
