I would love to make a gift for a special friend. I was thinking of a shadow box or an altered book or collage with the poem Desiterata somehow displayed. Would you have any ideas which aren't hokey that i could use to make this gift? Any I think of seem so juvinile or so, as I said, hokey. I am new to collage and altered books and I love it as a medium. ~Q~

Well, there are lots of altered book instruction manuals out there that give tons of examples (try checking out the bookstore at Somerset Studios online). But maybe the best thing is just to jump in and try some things, and don't worry about hokiness to begin with. My experience is that ideas evolve, and you can't always predict where you'll end up. It will definitely be surprising, all yours, and will probably be either interesting, educational, or both!
