Hi all,
I am new to the group and to altered books in general. I love soome of the techniques i have seen, and think it is something i could really get into, I already do a number of crafts and art things, and am an oil painter, so i am anxious to get started. Two questions: first, are there any tips for a total newcomer that some veterans would like to share? and Second, what do people tend to do with the books once finished? I could see myself running out of space in my house, do people display them, gift them, etc?
thanks
katie

Re: what to do.......
Sat, November 11, 2006 - 2:26 PMI tend to use mine almost as journals, so I keep them on a shelf much like any other books. :) When I get a particularly good section, I'll open it to those pages and display it. Target has these little "easel" looking things that are perfect for this... look in their frame section. I think the one I bought came with a picture frame setting on it. I've never given any as gifts, but I could definitely see that being a unique gift idea.
I don't have any special tips that stand out in my mind... there's a lot of books out there now though. Most of my best pieces were happy accidents. I take a very trial & error approach to the whole process. :)
